Curse You Tori Spelling!

I am almost 26 weeks pregnant and feel as good as any pregnant woman can feel both physically and emotionally. I do, at times, have exorcist like meltdowns that begin with hearty laughter and end in hysterical crying. I have no idea why I do it, but Matt seems to find it hilarious. I am sure I would too...if I was heartless and felt like laughing at pregnant women was socially appropriate.

As we get closer and closer to D-Day, I have begun doing more and more research into new baby products, trends and the likes. I have made the following discoveries.

1. Cloth diapering is not the image that comes into your head. Apparently, there is no longer the requirement for safety pins or frequent overspills. After researching the amount of cost that goes into the containment of baby s*it ( I was going to use another word, but truly felt that s*it, although profane was the best fit at the moment) is ridiculously expensive if you plan on doing it with disposable diapers. Cloth diapers may be the way to go both for economical reasons, and I can use all the extra karma points I can get by doing good for the environment.

2. According to GMA, people think a lot into the business of potty training babies. There is this practice called elimination communication that has women begin in essence potty training their babies at just a few months of age. It is a more common practice in other parts of the world that do not use diapers at all. I have two thoughts. My first is that it makes sense if you know your baby is going to go to the bathroom to sit them on a potty. My other thought is, "Seriously?"

3. Tori Spelling has caused much strife and debate in my marriage and household. Matt and I were certain that our next child would be named Liam. Its a great name. Over the past weeks, however, I have noticed more and more children and new babies named Liam. Liams are popping up all over like Ashleys and Tiffanys. Somebody mentioned to me that the popularity of the name was probably sparked by Tori Spelling naming her son Liam. Now I have loved Tori Spelling for some time and would proudly wear a "Donna Martin Graduates" t-shirt any day of the week, but the simple fact that she has put my beloved baby name in the spotlight perturbs me to say the least. Yes, I realize that there is the actor Liam Neeson, but thats different because he is old. That and he played that awesome dad in Taken. Long story short, Matt and I have been debating other baby names. The middle name, however, will remain the same.

4. In other news, it is awesome not feeling like or looking like slaughter ready cow this pregnancy. I have actually only purchased one set of prego pantalones (pants for non Spanish speaking readers)! I do wear what is called a belly band which is an awesome invention that allows you to wear your pants unbuttoned. It sounds like an invention that Al Bundy would have concocted on Married With Children, but I cannot deny how awesome it is to not wear elastic banded pants like a giant baby. Its the the little things in life that make me excited :) I may never wear buttoned pants again to tell the truth. Then I could buy size 4 jeans again and proudly say, "Do you have these in a 4?" A 4 is a 4 whether you button it or not.

5. Finally, Tucson is still wonderful. Not being around any family has its pitfalls, but living two blocks away from a Gelato shop helps soothe the pain.

Luke Update:

Luke is now practicing T-ball and will begin a new soccer group this week. He still loves going to the gym, and I have also begun teaching him at home. Its all part of my take on Chinese parenting. So far he loves it and hasn't called Grandma to help him escape.

  1. My husband saw Tori and Dean one night in channel surfing and saw her son was Liam and he got upset too. Liam means William in Irish, my husband wanted a Jr. and I told him that would be the closest thing he would get too!!! My husband being Irish we are keeping the tradition of Irish names, so both are kid's names are Irish!!

For boy names, I liked Nolan, Layton, Landon, Braeden etc. just as suggestions!!!
